BACKDROPS:

Painted Backdrops

Staged photography has always appealed to me. I have always been interested in transforming mundane scenes through manipulating color and lighting. However, the illusion of painting to conceal or create depth where there is only a flat surface allows me to create a higher level of fiction. In my backdrop images I am interested in the play between the mixing of reality and fiction. I create a bright, colorful world where real-life people and objects mix with artificial. Where, in a photograph, does reality end and fiction begin?
